# AI credits

> How AI usage is metered — the included allowance, top-ups that roll over, and where to see what was spent on what.

<Info>
  **Deliberately contains no prices.** Pricing changes; a stale figure here
  is worse than no figure. Numbers live on the pricing page and the in-app
  Billing screen, which always show your studio's real current values. This
  page documents the mechanics, which don't change.
</Info>

AI features in Atelier are metered in **credits**. A credit is one unit of
AI work — analysing an uploaded contract, composing a pinboard, and so
on. Ordinary use of the app costs nothing; only the AI features draw down
credits.

**Settings → Billing.**

## Two pots, and they behave differently

* **Included allowance** — comes with your subscription, counted per
  seat. **Resets every billing period**; unused credits do not carry
  over.
* **Top-up balance** — bought separately when you need more. **Rolls
  over**, and does not expire while you are subscribed.

The Billing page shows both: a progress bar for the included allowance
with its reset date, and the top-up balance underneath.

<Info>
  Order of use matters for planning: the included allowance is the one with
  a deadline. If you have both, it makes sense to think of the top-up
  balance as reserve rather than as budget.
</Info>

## Buying more

Top-up packs are offered directly on the Billing page. Prices and pack
sizes are shown there and on the pricing page — they change from time to
time, so the app is the place to read them, not this page.

## Where they go

**Recent AI usage** on the same page lists what was spent, feature by
feature, with the credit cost and the date. It is the answer to *why are
we down to eighty credits*.

| Feature                  | Where                                                                                                                     |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Proposal analysis** | Uploading a signed contract on **Finance → Proposals** and letting Atelier extract its phases, fees and payment schedule. |
| **Pinboard composition** | Having Atelier assemble a board for you. |
| **Product extraction** | Reading a product out of a vendor page. |

The usage log names each one as it runs, so the current list is always
the one on your own Billing page.

## Managing usage across a team

Credits are counted per seat but pooled for the studio — so one person
doing a large import draws on the same balance as everyone else.

<Tip>
  If credits disappear faster than expected, read the usage log before
  buying more. A single bulk import of a whole vendor catalogue looks very
  different from steady daily use, and only one of those is worth topping
  up for.
