# Organize, group and choose columns

> Grouping, filters, sort and column visibility — set up per view so each one shows only what that job needs.

A schedule with sixty rows and twenty columns is unreadable. Two controls
above the table fix that: **Organize** and **Columns**.

Both are set **per view**. Planning can group by room while Procurement
groups by vendor and Financials groups by category — they do not interfere
with each other.

## Organize

Controls how rows are arranged: what they group by, what is filtered out,
and the sort order inside each group.

Useful groupings, by view:

| View        | Group by     | Why                                                                  |
| ----------- | ------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Planning | **Category** | The default. Furniture, lighting, decor — how a specification reads. |
| Planning    | **Room**     | For a room-by-room presentation, or an installation day.             |
| Financials | **Category** | Shows where the money is going by type. |
| Procurement | **Vendor** | One group per supplier — one purchase order per group. |
| Procurement | **Status** | What is approved, what is ordered, what has landed. |

Group headers carry a count — *Furniture (8)* — and collapse with the
triangle. Collapsing everything except the group in front of you is the
single biggest readability win on a long schedule.

<Tip>
  Group by vendor before an ordering session, then group back by category
  before you present. Ten seconds each way, and both views are the right one
  for the job.
</Tip>

## Columns

Chooses which columns are visible. Everything Atelier tracks is available;
you decide what earns its place.

A reasonable starting point:

**Planning — specifying.** Product, brand, material, finish, qty, lead
time, status. Leave financial detail off; it is a distraction while you
are choosing pieces.

**Financials — costing.** Qty, vendor cost, markup, selling price, client
total, tax, status. Drop material and finish — you are not looking at them
here.

**Procurement — ordering and tracking.** Product, vendor, status, PO,
order date, est. ship, delivery, tracking, carrier.

**Client-facing — before you share.** Product, brand, finish, qty, client
total, lead time, status. Hide vendor cost, markup and profit.

<Warning>
  Check the visible columns before sharing a schedule with a client. Vendor
  cost and markup should not be in a client-facing view.
</Warning>

## Search

The search box above the table filters rows by product name — the
quickest way to find one piece on a long schedule without changing the
grouping.
