# Source products for requirement slots

> Compare library, URL and pinboard candidates against a specification, then choose a product.

A requirement slot records what the project needs before you choose a product.
Use it for a specification imported from a drawing, Revit table or consultant's
schedule. [Import the table as requirement slots](/ffe-schedules/import-and-export)
when those rows describe requirements rather than confirmed products.

## Open the requirement

Open the slot's sourcing drawer from the schedule. Review **Requirements**:
its identity, quantity, location and specification details. Keep these tied
to the original requirement so you can compare alternatives consistently.

## Add candidates

In **Candidates**, choose:

| Control      | Source                                                             |
| ------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Library**  | An existing studio product.                                        |
| **URL**      | A vendor product page; choose **Extract** and review the result.   |
| **Pinboard** | A linked product already presented on one of the project's boards. |

Adding a candidate gives you an option to compare. It does not select that
product as the final specification.

## Compare and choose

Review the comparison against each requirement. Check missing information
against the vendor's specification instead of treating unknown values as a
pass. Record manual checks only for details you have verified.

Choose **Select** on the intended candidate. A rough-opening mismatch may
require an explicit decision before selection; inspect the dimensions and
source drawing rather than treating the warning as a formality.

The selected product is attached to the slot. Review the resulting schedule
row, quantity, cost and status before proceeding with client approval or
procurement. Selecting a candidate is not the same as placing an order.

## Change the choice

Unselecting returns the slot to **To be sourced**, while keeping requirements,
placements and candidates. You can compare another option without rebuilding
the original brief. Check any existing order separately before changing a
product that has already been purchased.

AI Chat beside the schedule can help find and add candidates. Name the slot
and the constraints, and review the options before asking it to select one.
