# When something looks wrong

> The handful of things that surprise people, and what is actually going on.

Most confusion in Atelier comes from a small number of deliberate design
decisions. Here they are, with what to do about each.

  <Accordion title="My budget spend looks too low">
    Items with no cost count as nothing. Check the project Overview's
    **No price set** card — it lists exactly which rows are missing a
    vendor cost, and each one is quietly flattering your number.

  <Accordion title="The Timeline view of my tasks looks empty">
    Tasks with no start or due date can't be placed on a timeline, so
    they aren't drawn. Add dates, or use Board or List instead.

  <Accordion title="A task isn't in My tasks">
    My tasks shows work assigned to *you*. An unassigned task sits on
    the project board and in nobody's day. Check assignees on the
    project board.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Today is empty and I have plenty to do">
    Today is a notepad, not a filter — nothing arrives in it
    automatically. Pull tasks over from My tasks, or type straight into
    the box.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I changed a price on a schedule and the library still shows the old one">
    Correct. The library holds the **retail price** — what a piece
    generally costs. A schedule row holds what you are paying the
    vendor and charging this client *on this job*. Editing a row never
    rewrites the library.

  <Accordion title="The same product is in my library twice">
    Atelier does not de-duplicate automatically. Search before adding —
    and if two copies already exist at different prices, decide which
    is right before either one reaches a schedule.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My schedule is unreadable">
    Two controls fix this. **Organize** changes what rows group by,
    **Columns** changes what you see, and both are set per view — so
    Planning can group by room while Procurement groups by vendor.
    Collapse the groups you aren't working in.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Imported rows have no images or vendor links">
    Rows imported from a spreadsheet arrive without library products
    behind them, so they have no vendor page, no images and no link to
    a pinboard. For pieces you specify often, add them to the library
    properly.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The assistant refused to change an invoice">
    Expected, if the invoice is not a draft. The assistant writes
    drafts only; once a document has been sent it is yours to change in
    **Finance** or through a change order.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My client can't see something I shared">
    Shared links stay live, so the content updates — but check you
    shared the right object. A shared pinboard does not include the
    schedule, and vice versa. Also check your visible columns before
    sharing a schedule: vendor cost and markup should be hidden.
